Throwback Thursday – Color Our World

Coloring page generated by AI software from a photograph of the Montauk Point Lighthouse in the collection of Frank and Barbara Borth, Montauk Library Archives

Montauk’s past and present history is painted with verdant parks and preservations, a blend of historical and modern architectural styles, shorelines glittering with seaglass, plentiful marine life, vivid sunsets, and colorful characters that make our community so unique.

Aligning with our Summer Reading Program’s theme, “Color Our World,” we used AI software to transform black-and-white photographs in the library’s archival collection into coloring pages.

We invite you to express your creativity with images of the Montauk Point Lighthouse, surfers at Ditch Plains, the Montauk Manor, the Montauk train station, cattle at Deep Hollow Ranch, and fishermen with their prized catch at the Montauk Yacht Club.

Coloring pages offer a range of benefits for both the young and not-so-young, including stress reduction, improved focus, enhanced fine motor skills, and increased creativity. Try your hand at illuminating Montauk’s rich history with crayon, colored pencils, watercolor, or whatever you have on hand.

You can pick up a printout of the coloring pages in the library’s Local History Exhibit Center, or you can download the pages online here.

Share your creations with us by tagging @MontaukLibrary on social media, using the hashtag #ColorMontaukHistory, or sending a picture to archives@montauklibrary.org.
