Ways to celebrate Earth Day and make a difference!
-
Peconic Bay Keeper’s is hosting a “Virtual Clean Up”:
Join PBK for a “Virtual Cleanup Event”. This could be something as simple as picking up an extra piece of trash along your favorite beach, stretch of roadway, or along a woodland trail. The choice is yours and remember that collectively, our actions make a big difference! If you are unable to get outside, that’s ok too. Now is a great time to renew your personal commitment to protecting our environment be it by reducing plastic waste, planting a garden, or eliminating the use of toxic products in your home and landscape. If you are able to join us in our cleanup efforts, please follow the guidelines below:
- Practice social distancing at all times (at least 6ft) and respect all public closures.
- Protect personal safety by wearing brightly colored clothing along roadways, wearing gloves, and avoiding any hazardous items.
- Dispose of any items collected properly!
- Be sure to report your efforts by clicking here so we can tally our results!

It’s amazing how the Montauk Library brings the community together for Earth Day Celebrations! The dedication to environmental awareness and the interactive events like the ones mentioned in April 2020 really show a commitment to sustainability. Love the way it’s celebrated here.
