Children’s Department
Welcome to the Montauk Library Children’s Department!
Space: We have a wonderful space for children and families to play, learn, read and spend time in! Our family room features a lot of new educational toys that children can play with including a play kitchen set, a train set, Lego table, blocks, puzzles, a puppet theater, paper and crayons and much more! With beautiful wood shelving packed with great books and windows that look out onto the ocean, the children’s room is also a great place to relax and find the perfect book to read!
Technology: The family room features access to technology for all ages! We have a beautiful computer bar with three MacBook Airs that looks out on the serenity garden for our teen users. This is a great place to do homework or work on a group project! We also have three desktop computers for grade school children to use that feature games such as Minecraft, along with access to PBS Kids and ABC Mouse. Finally, for our smallest patrons, we have Launchpad tablets that can be borrowed from the circulation desk for in-library use. These tablets feature educational apps that are appropriate for preschoolers ages 3-5.
So Much More: There is so much more to the children’s department than our physical space in the building! You can visit us online for access to children’s databases for project research, eBooks and audiobooks and FREE online homework help and tutoring with your library card! Click here to see what children’s online resources that your library card gives you access to! We also offer many programs for children of all ages that take place in our lower level community room.
