September Garden Checklist

September is a great time to divide perennials and plant fall flowering annuals.  In the vegetable garden, harvest ornamental gourds before the first frost, however, winter squash can withstand a light frost and be harvested after the leaves die and the growth stops. Be sure to collect seeds from zinnias, cosmos, morning glory and other annual flowering plants to plant next spring.

Don’t forget, you can still plant in September for a late harvest!
